’23 REUNION

“QUANTICO”: 16-20 OCTOBER

2023 REUNION

With only a committee of one, Jack Sheehan did it ALL, (using the valuable contact list provided by LTG Gary McKissock), and with the enthusiastic support of the Alumni Board Members…

We are on track developing the final arrangements for the 2023 Reunion to be held at Marine Corps Base Quantico, 16-20 (Monday-Friday) October 2023.

So, save the dates, and prepare to travel to the Virginia destination where it all started 58 years ago! Many details are still being worked-out, and if you are interested in volunteering your services to handle any of these projects that need to be completed please consider:

-Color Guard for banquet dinner, Thursday

-Speaker at Banquet, Thursday

-Name Badges

-Hospitality Hosting

-Memento for attendees

-Memento for spouses attending

If you have any interest in working on any of these important aspects, please contact me by email for details: stanpasieka@comcast.net.

BEREAVEMENTS

Just a reminder on Bereavement notices:

They will only be published with the consent of the family.

Our classmate, FBI Special Agent John Lawrence “Brute” Bailey was shot & killed in Las Vegas during a bank robbery attempt on June 25, 1990. John was in OCC Platoon D2, and TBS Platoon E1. He served heroically with Battalion 1/7 in Vietnam and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He served with the FBI for 21 years.

On Saturday, June 25, 2022, our Alumni Association Vice President Jim Conklin attended the John “The Brute” Bailey’s memorial service. Every year the FBI holds a rememberance graveside service for every FBI Agent killed in the line of duty on the date they were killed. The FBI, Las Vegas office has held this service since the Brute’s murder in 1990.

Looking forward to getting together with you again at the ’23 Quantico Reunion!

PRESIDENT’S LETTER

Spring Equinox!!!

March 20th was the first day of spring and the date is called the “Vernal Equinox”. On this date night and day are equal in length. So happy Spring, Summer is coming!

2023 REUNION

We are 5 months out from the last reunion in Las Vegas, and the Board members are currently stalled in announcing a location for the October ’23 reunion. Research to date has resulted in a possible location that has too high a price tag in addition to other restrictions that rule it out. If any USMC Alumni members would like to step forward with a location recommendation as well as names for a Reunion Committee to spearhead requirements necessary to make it happen - the Board would like to evaluate it.

MEMBER UPDATES

Following is an update on Gerald Phillips who was injured in a fall while at the Las Vegas reunion: I called him recently and Gerry reported positive healing progress. He happily announced that he’s been able to play golf a few times and is walking his dog regularly.
